The pace of work has increased and this photo taken from inside the front gate structure shows the equipment and state of things at the beginning of the week.

  • Buena Vista: BV 032307 02

The garden transformers have all been set and CFE has approved our underground vault and conduit installations and have allowed the electricians to complete the installation of the high tension underground lines. Telephone (Telmex) is next and should begin this next week.

  • Buena Vista: BV 032307 03

The big CAT grader returned to the site to begin laying the thick gravel and sand base for Privada El Campanario, the upper road.

  • Buena Vista: BV 032307 04

This view is taken by standing on lots 14 & 15 looking to where the cul-de-sac ends on Privada El Campanario.

  • Buena Vista: BV 032307 05

The incredible mountain and lagoon views as seen from homes 5, 6, 7, 11 and 13.

  • Buena Vista: BV 032307 06

A worker applies the smooth finish coat of concrete stucco on the entrance arch of Buena Vista. Notice the scale of the building when compared to a human being.

  • Buena Vista: BV 032307 07

Complete with finished moldings, the front of the entrance is a truly beautiful piece of artwork. The master craftsmen of Mexico work magic in concrete.

  • Buena Vista: BV 032307 08

This view shows the almost completed monument sign on the left side of the entrance area.

  • Buena Vista: BV 032307 09
The Buena Vista entrance as seen from the main road in front.
  • Buena Vista: BV 032307 10

Framed in the arch, the large hand-carved Cantera stone fountain is dwarfed by the size and scale of the entry.

  • Buena Vista: BV 032307 11

A worker inspects his progress on the finish coat of cement stucco of the moldings on the front of the entry. Again, note the size of the man compared to the size of the structure. It's difficult to get a sense for the true size when people aren't in the photographs.

  • Buena Vista: BV 032307 12

Looking up the hill from just inside the entry gates, the bell tower can be seen rising from the top of the hill. It's wintertime, and many of the trees are dormant right now. Later many coconut palms and native hardwood trees will be added along the road boundaries.

  • Buena Vista: BV 032307 13

The finished and compacted road base awaits installation of pavers on Privada El Campanario, the road that leads to the eight top homes in Buena Vista.

  • Buena Vista: BV 032307 14

The first arches begin to appear in the bell tower. The center platform level will be open to residents and their guests and is an excellent place to get 360-degree panoramic views of the area.

  • Buena Vista: BV 032307 15

The pavers are being installed on the top of Privada El Campanario. This view shows a worker in the area of the boundary between lots 9 & 10.

  • Buena Vista: BV 033107 01

An important part of creating new roads is dealing with rain water run-off to prevent erosion. This picture shows the partially completed rain gutter along the lower road.

A view of the rainwater drain from the road surface.
  • Buena Vista: BV 033107 02

Because the stone blends into its native surroundings it's difficult to see, but the 2.3 meter high rock wall surrounding the water reclamation system is almost completed.

  • Buena Vista: BV 033107 03

The stack of brick will be used to complete the front wall at the entrance on the left side. This wall will have a temporary construction entrance built into it for vehicles to use during home construction.

  • Buena Vista: BV 033107 04
A worker stands on the footing for the wall. To his left is a temporary electric meter enclosure that will be removed once Buena Vista is connected to the main grid. The area along the road will be heavily landscaped.
  • Buena Vista: BV 033107 05

Truckloads of sand are being delivered and brushed into Buena Vista's roads to fill the spaces between the paver blocks. The finished road surfaces look beautiful.

  • Buena Vista: BV 033107 06

Jesus', our head contractor puts the finishing touches on the square column bases on the outside of the Buena Vista entrance.

  • Buena Vista: BV 033107 07

The two new Tuscan columns have been roughed in on the front of the entrance to the office at the gate structure. This next week a decorative iron balcony railing will be added to the platform above the columns. Provisions were made during construction to allow for the addition of a bedroom and bathroom above the office level in the future.

  • Buena Vista: BV 033107 08

The road base has been placed, graded, wet and rolled and made ready for pavers on Privada El Campanario, the road leading to the top of Buena Vista.

  • Buena Vista: BV 033107 09

Curbstones are starting to be placed at the area around the entrance fountain and for the three parking spaces adjacent to the office and area where the future Spa will be located. By the end of next week we expect the paver installation of this area to be completed as well.

  • Buena Vista: BV 033107 10
The paver crew works their way down off the top of the hill on Privada El Campanario.
  • Buena Vista: BV 033107 11

Looking down Privada El Campanario from the top, a worker carried scaffolding up the hill for use on the bell tower. The space left between the rows of pavers is to accommodate a bond-beam that runs across the road to stabilize the pavers on grades.

  • Buena Vista: BV 033107 12

This view shows the completed paver installation on the top of the hill. The road leads off to the right toward the entrance to lot 9. The photographer is standing on lot 10.

  • Buena Vista: BV 033107 13

The bell tower's arched openings are in their rough form stage and the structure begins to just give a hint of what is to come. The top 8 arches will eventually each have a hand-cast bronze memorial bell from a tiny forge in Santa Clara de Cobre that was started in 1560.

  • Buena Vista: BV 033107 14

Another view of the bell tower with a worker standing to the left. The scale of this structure is magnificent. It will be seen from all around the Santiago bay area and will be lighted at night.

  • Buena Vista: BV 033107 15

  • Buena Vista: BV 033107 16

The simple but elegant street lamps of Buena Vista are made from concrete but formed to look like and match the Cantara stone used on the entry fountain.

  • Buena Vista: BV 033107 17

Even in the driest time of year, our winter months, native trees continue to surprise us with their beautiful blooms. The yellow flowers on this tree attract hundreds of honeybees.

  • Buena Vista: 51

04-14-07 - Lou, Victor and Wilma look at the views from the top. The transformation on the bell tower was dramatic this past week.. It no longer looks like a big elevator shaft ;-)

  • Buena Vista: 52

04-14-07 - Still wearing its scratch-coat of cement plaster, you can start to see the detail of the moldings emerge on the bell tower.

  • Buena Vista: 53
